8th of November 2005 Finally after many years of trying and 3 final defeats the County Junior B Football title was won in Killmallock last Sunday. In a game in which we were down 5 points at the half time break and after playing with the wind the lads showed great commitment, and heart to out score Knockaderry 7 points to 1 point. 17th October 2005 Junior footballers win the county quater final on a scoreline of 1-14 to 0-7, against Pallaskennery, in Feadmore last Saturday. Mulchay. 10th October 2005 Knockainey 5-10 Ballybrown 1-6 BALLYBROWN playing senior hurling since 1968 and the holders of two senior county titles and beaten in an All Ireland club final, departed from the scene at Bruff last Saturday at the hands of Knockainey in the final game in the relegation battle. Now its intermediate hurling for at least a year for the former king pins. Once more the famous fighting qualities of Knockainey emerged. This was a replay thoroughly enjoyed by the followers of the 'All Blacks'. From the outset they hurled with gusto and received a major boost as early as the fifth minute when Dermot Walsh neatly tucked away a goal. Ballybrown came back to go in front. Alan O'Connor from a penalty shot levelled the scoring in the 18th minute and followed with the lead from a point. Patrick Kirby had a point for Knockainey to gain parity and it was the flying John Leo who restored the lead. It stood at 1-7 to 1-5 at the interval. Ballybrown were not playing well and to prove a point, Michael Ryan, sent to the Ballybrown net. Knockainey were on a roll from this stage. Kevin Madden sent over an inspiring point and goals from Patrick Kirby and Donncha O'Brien sealed senior status for the south men. They won in a canter at the end. Ballybrown's great stint in the top flight had ended and they now face an uncertain future as its not easy to come out of the intermediate grade as clubs are learning every year. 25th of August 2005 A major disappointment for the club last night when we were knocked out of the county senior hurling championship by Bruree. On a night when we didn't create a lot of chances we lost on a scoreline of 1-9 to 1-7. Our scorers were D. O’Brien 0-6, P. Kirby 1-0, M. Ryan 0-1. The team was: K. Madden; G. O’Shea, W. O’Brien, P. 19th of August 2005 Junior footballers win against Banogue in a match that was played at Knockainey Sportsfield after being changed from Bruff. Madden. 17th of August 2005 Junior hurlers surrendered their interest in the championship after suffering a heavy defeat to Killmallock last Monday evening in Bruff. Junior Footballers get their championship off and running tomorrow evening at 7.45 in Hospital versus Stakers. 12th of July 2005 Congratulations to Patrick Kirby who started for Limerick Senior hurlers last Saturday evening against Galway in the All Ireland qualifier. Patrick finished with 6 points. Best wishes to Patrick and Mark Cleary who are involved with Limerick Under 21's against Tipperary tomorrow evening. The junior hurling championship started for Knockainey last evening with an excellent win against Stakers on a scoreline of 5-7 to 0-7. Come out and support your team. 8th of July 2005 After a wait of 4 years a county title has come back to Knockainey, with the Junior footballers winning the County League. In a very exciting match in which we were 1-2 to 0-0 down after 5 minutes, we won on a scoreline of 5-5 to 2-7. Everyone played very well and it was great to have excellent subs. Minor hurlers loose to Bruff in South Championship, however since the championship is run on a league basis they still have a chance. Ther are now playing Ballylanders in Knockainey on the 23th of June at 7.45. 14th of June 2005 Congratulations to all the members of the Senior Hurling panel and management, as finally the County Senior Championship began for Knockainey on the 13th of June in ballygran against Bruree. Knockainey started off well playing with the aid of a slight wind. We went ahead with a free from Patrick Kirby, but we lost our way slightly with Bruree scoring 3 points. A great goal was then scored by Donnacha O Brien and a few more points just before half time the sides were level. The second half started off very badly for us when we didn't score for the first 15 mins of the second half. We were then 4 points down to a Bruree side that were playing full of confidence. However the lads dug deep and pulled them back and went ahead with 5 mins left. The substitutions that we used all played very well when they were used. The team on duty was, K. Madden, G.
